Multichannel Support for Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems

The recent release 1 of the European C-ITS standards in the ETSI Technical Committee for Intelligent Transport Systeme (ETSI TC ITS)  utilizes only a single channel of the 5.9 GHz frequeny band for traffic safety and efficiency applications. Due to the increasing deployment and various new "day 2" applications, the next release of standards is required to support the usage of the other channels of the 5.9 GHz Frequency band.

The project develops specifications for multi-channel support (MCO) in the 5.9 GHz spectrum, for which release 1 standards will be  adapted and extended. These standards include specifications for the architecture, access technologies, networks and transport as well  as facilities.

The project will be carried out  as an ETSI Special Task Force (STF) in the framework of the EU mandate for standardization M/453 (C-ITS Systems), M/546 (Urban ITS) and ITS Actions 1 3, 7, 9 and 19 of the 2019 Rolling Plan für ICT Standardisation.
