THI is one of the leading universities of applied sciences in Germany in terms of research. With an annual research budget of 33 million euros – accounting for just under 40 per cent of the university’s total budget – THI occupies a leading position in this field. In its latest Funding Atlas, the DFG ranks THI first among all 116 universities of applied sciences surveyed for EU funding programmes and fourth for federal funding programmes.
At THI, over 400 researchers work across eight interdisciplinary and cross-faculty research institutes, as well as three affiliated institutes, in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, autonomous driving, vehicle safety, unmanned aerial vehicles, propulsion and battery systems, new energy systems, hydrogen technology, and intelligent manufacturing systems and Robotics.
