THI invites you to the lecture series 'Energy - Environment - Sustainability'

How can a city become climate-neutral? What can the food industry contribute to the energy transition? And what does sustainable business look like in practice? Answers to these and many other questions will be provided by the public lecture series ‘Energy - Environment - Sustainability’ at THI in the summer semester 2025.

In the lecture series, experts from science and industry report on current challenges and solutions relating to climate, energy and the environment. The programme is aimed not only at students, but also at school pupils, professionals, environmental groups, political decision-makers and all interested members of the public.

On the 13th of May, Melanie Werner, process engineer at Bühler GmbH in Beilngries, will talk about the energy transition in the malting industry and the contribution of the food industry to sustainability. The presentation will show how modern technologies can help to save energy and reduce losses in food production.

Dr Sebastian Brandmayr, Technical Director of Stadtwerke Schrobenhausen, will follow on the 20th of May. In his lecture ‘Heat, wind and living’, he will present projects with which the town of Schrobenhausen aims to become climate-neutral by 2040 - including a district heating network in the historic town centre and the planned construction of a wind farm.

The lectures always take place on Tuesdays at 6.30 pm on the Ingolstadt campus in room G215. Registration is not required. Those who cannot attend on site can participate online. Each lecture will be followed by an opportunity for discussion with the speakers.

The series of events is organised by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Sabine Bschorer, Professor of Fluid Mechanics, Energy Technology and Process and Environmental Engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at THI.
