How can artificial intelligence (AI) improve school lessons? This question was the focus of a practice-oriented workshop for teachers from Apian Gymnasium Ingolstadt, which was led by Prof Dr Christian Locher, academic program director of Digital Business and Dean of Studies for Accreditation at THI Business School.
Following the visit of around 100 pupils from Apian Gymnasium to Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt, teachers were also given an insight into the effective use of generative AI in teaching. The aim was to show how AI not only saves time, but can also improve the quality of teaching.
Even simple tools make it possible to generate interactive materials such as quiz questions or personalised learning content at the touch of a button - with a time saving of over 50%. This time saved can be used to respond to individual learning needs or to further develop didactic concepts. Particularly valuable: the teachers were able to work in MEBIS themselves and create their own teaching content.
However, the training also revealed challenges: a lack of knowledge at schools, inadequate software solutions and legal uncertainties still stand in the way of widespread use. Targeted political and infrastructural measures are needed here.
Prof Dr Locher was impressed by the commitment of the participants and summed up: "It was an exciting and instructive collaboration - with many valuable insights for both sides."
