As part of the joint course "Project Controlling & Turnaround Management", students on the Master's degree programs in Financial Management & Controlling (FMC) and Tax and Consulting (SB) at THI Business School were given exciting insights into the practice of restructuring consulting.
The guests were a team of experts from KPMG AG: Rüdiger Herr, Partner in the Audit department, Alexander Flynn, Manager for Turnaround & Restructuring, and Laura Schwardt, Assistant Manager in the same department. In an interactive workshop, they used a case study from the food service industry to convey practical approaches to creating a restructuring concept in accordance with the IDW S 6 standard. Possible solutions for specific challenges in restructuring processes were discussed together with the students.
The workshop gave students the opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world applications and to establish valuable contacts in the business world. It was organized by Prof. Dr. Alois Rauscher as part of his course.
In addition to the professional exchange, the KPMG team also presented the company itself and various entry opportunities for young talent. An informal finale with finger food provided further space for individual discussions and networking.
The application period for the winter semester 2025/26 is currently open: applications for FMC are possible until July 15, for SB until August 31 - in both cases via the Primuss application portal.
