Engineering and Management (B. Eng.)

Application period for the winter semester 2027/28: April 1 to July 15, 2027

Our Engineering and Management programme addresses students who intend to work for international companies in functions which require both, an engineering background as well as a thorough understanding of management practices.

The programme provides a sound engineering education with modules such as engineering mechanics, material sciences, mechanical design, computer science, mathematics, software development and electrical engineering. Besides, above mentioned job requirements regarding management know-how are met by lectures such as accounting, marketing and controlling. In addition to those competencies, “soft-skills” are trained, e.g. by team projects and student presentations.

The studies also prepare students for international projects and positions. Specific modules such as “intercultural studies”, “selected topics in international management” and a second foreign language are part of the curriculum.
Students gain further international exposure by studying abroad at one of our partner universities. Internships, which are scheduled during the 5th semester, help to gain work experience as well as business contacts which may lead to future employment. Last-but-no-least, lectures are taught in Englisch - the language of international business. While attending lectures taught in the English language, students are encouraged to learn German as their foreign language (courses scheduled during semesters 1, 2 and 3).

You want to learn more about this programme? Our students have prepared a video showcasing all detail. You can watch the video here: https://youtu.be/6tKHMjv74Fg

Quick Info

Admission and application

Application period for the winter semester is May 2nd to July 15th.

Please consider that the online application is only possible in this space of time. Applications that reach the university later than that cannot be taken into consideration.

Please find further information on application for bachelor study courses.

Dubious Application Agencies

Currently, THI is receiving an increasing amount of information regarding fraudulent activities in connection with student applications to THI. Therefore, it is important for you to know the following:

  1. THI does not work with agencies. Please apply directly to THI via the Primuss application portal.
  2. THI never asks for money via agencies for application purposes.
  3. THI only sends emails from @thi.de.
  4. THI never asks for money before you receive your admission letter. If you need a VPD from uni-assist, you will have to pay a processing fee to uni-assist. However, uni-assist only checks certain documents and does not grant admission to THI.
  5. The application process is conducted in the THI Primuss portal. Only there will you be able to access your application progress.

Important Information for Applicants from Third Countries

Please take note of our Statutes for International Orientation and Selection Procedures

For applicants from third countries, the selection process includes an assessment based on the application documents submitted. Relevant selection criteria include the grade point average of your bachelor's degree, your curriculum, your practical experience, a work sample, and an internal test. In the second stage, a selection interview is conducted.

Dual studies or studies with in-depth practical

The dual studies programme enables a combination of practical training elements in a company with the theoretical education provided by the university. There is a choice of either the joint model (academic study + vocational training) or the degree course with vocational experience (academic study + intense practical phases). There is an obvious advantage to students here: practically oriented academic study generally enables a particularly smooth transition from university to the world of work. What is more, the student usually receives financial remuneration from the company concerned.

In the joint model, students may start working at the company several months before the start of the first semester, depending on the company concerned. At the start of the course there is an alternation between theory (during the semester) and practical experience (between semesters and during the practical semesters). In order to embark on a dual studies programme, students have to apply to both a company and to THI (be sure to take note of company application deadlines!). See here for details of partner companies.

More info on our dual studies-pages, or check dual cooperation partner companies. Even if no partner company is currently active in this degree programme, you are welcome to contact us.
