Bauhaus Reimagined – An exhibition of work by design students from Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI)

The Bauhaus shaped modernism – its ideas continue to have an impact to this day. Students will demonstrate how these ideas can be combined with the creative possibilities of the digital age in their exhibition on Wednesday, the 22nd of July, at KAP94. Under the title ‘A digital reinterpretation of Oskar Schlemmer’s iconic Bauhaus Theatre’, they explore one of the most influential stage concepts of the 20th century.

With his experimental approach to theatre, the Bauhaus artist Oskar Schlemmer revolutionised the interplay between body, space, form, and movement. His abstract figures, geometric compositions, and visionary stage designs transformed theatre into a total work of art and are still regarded today as some of the most significant works of classical modernism.

The students draw on Schlemmer’s design principles to develop their own independent digital approaches. Rather than historical reconstructions, the result is a series of contemporary works that combine analogue design ideas with digital design methods, opening up new perspectives on an iconic body of work. The exhibition demonstrates how creative heritage can be reimagined through digital media – experimentally, surprisingly, and with a clear vision of the future.

The exhibition opens on Wednesday, the 22nd of July at 6.30 pm at KAP94 (Jahnstraße 1a, Schlosslände entrance). Doors open at 6 pm; admission is free.
