Master students visit Division for Climate and Environmental Protection in Munich

Professor Petra Hutner and her students visited the RKU in Munich. As part of the Sustainability Project, students from THI’s international SMT Master’s program are exploring which building blocks on the path toward becoming a "NetZeroCity" can also be implemented in smaller cities. A field trip to Munich served as the thematic kick-off for this initiative, as Munich is a pilot city for achieving climate neutrality by 2035 under the EU’s NetZeroCities program. The participants gained insights into the strategic framework of the overall project, the role of robust emissions data, and specific project components—such as the Horizon project ASCENT, which focuses on developing "Positive Clean Energy Districts" in the Harthof district, or the application of circular economy principles within the construction sector (which accounts for approximately 35% of EU emissions).
