The BMW i7 expands the possibilities for research and teaching at THI, particularly in the field of innovative, electrified drive concepts. The vehicle combines modern Electromobility with digital functions, high performance, and extensive comfort and assistance systems, making it ideal as a practical research and demonstration vehicle in the university environment. In the future, the BMW i7 will be used in various lectures and for practical investigations in the laboratory. This will allow students to get to know and analyse current technologies directly on the vehicle. Content such as electric drive technology, energy management, vehicle networking, as well as measurement, diagnostic, and digital vehicle systems can thus not only be taught in theory, but also directly understood in practice. The test vehicle also opens up new perspectives in research. Access to a current electric vehicle creates optimal conditions for investigating modern systems under realistic conditions, recording measurement data, and visualising technological developments. At the same time, the use of the BMW i7 strengthens the close co-operation between university and industry as well as the application-oriented character of the THI. The provision of the vehicle also emphasises the importance of practical training in the context of future mobility concepts. The BMW i7 combines teaching, laboratory work, and applied research with industrial practice and gives students and researchers direct access to current developments in the automotive industry.
