Hiking, riding mountain carts, and cooling off in the lake

ELS Team Event at Spitzingsee

On June 25, 2026, we traded the office and lab for a day of mountain air and natural scenery. This year’s team event took us to the beautiful Spitzingsee and offered the perfect opportunity to be active together and strengthen our team spirit.

In the midst of summer heat, we began our outing with a hike to the Jagahütt’n. Once we reached the top, we were treated to a pleasant 24 degrees—ideal conditions for continuing our hike to the Roßkopf. At the summit, we were rewarded with a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountain landscape. After returning to the Jagahütt’n, we refueled with lunch together.

A special highlight awaited us afterward: the ride down the valley on mountain carts. We zoomed downhill into the valley on these three-wheeled vehicles. The ride turned out to be a lot of fun, but also quite a dusty affair. That didn’t stop most of us from riding the course two or even three times, though. To get back to the starting area, we took the chairlift, which brought us back up in complete comfort.

After so much action, we needed some refreshment. On the way back to the parking lot, we cooled off in Lake Spitzingsee after our active day, which really gave us that vacation feeling.

Before we finally headed home, we made a stop at Schliersee. Over ice cream together, we reflected on the day’s experiences and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere.

The team event offered the perfect opportunity to spend time together away from our daily research routines and strengthen team cohesion. We’re already looking forward to the next team event.
