Practical learning is an essential component of the academic program at THI Business School. A successful example of this is the excursion by the Bachelor’s program in Business Administration (BW), Course HR1, to the Munich Labor Court, Ingolstadt Chamber. Together with Prof. Dr. Michaela Regler, the students gained direct insights into real-world labor law proceedings.
The focus was on three dismissal cases that highlighted different facets of labor law. The first case dealt with the termination of a Ukrainian truck driver whose Ukrainian driver’s license is valid in Germany for only six months. Since the required additional qualifications for continued employment as a truck driver had not been obtained, the termination occurred. The second case involved a dismissal for operational reasons in the automotive industry. Particular attention was paid here to a social plan that provided for special provisions for employees with severe disabilities. In the third proceeding, the parties had already agreed to a settlement prior to the hearing, which was then merely recorded by the judge and was no longer discussed in open court.
In addition, the students gained insights into the practical conduct of proceedings. Among other things, the difference between in-person legal representation and participation via videoconference became clear. It was also discussed that pleadings created exclusively with the help of ChatGPT often fail to meet formal and substantive requirements.
The field trip illustrated how theoretical content from the program is applied in practice and underscores THI Business School’s commitment to preparing students specifically for professional demands.
Applications are currently being accepted for the Bachelor’s program in Business Administration for the 2026/27 winter semester. Applications may be submitted until July 15. All information regarding the program and the application process can be found on the program page.
