The update is based on generation data from the Market Master Data Register 2023, which has been technically processed, checked, and integrated. The user interface has also been redesigned. Revised colours, sliders, and a restructured start page make it easier to use. A high-contrast presentation view and a reset mode for basic values complement this.
The auto-marker calculator and the CO₂ calculator are two important additions. They demonstrate how battery storage impacts the regional self-sufficiency level and how emissions from electricity, heat, and mobility vary across different scenarios. The annual CO₂ emissions are shown in a clear bar graph for the first time.
"The energy turnaround tool is a low-threshold and transparent instrument that immediately visualises the impact of individual decisions," explains Bodo Schneider, research associate in the "Mensch in Bewegung" transfer project. "You can see at a glance how different scenarios affect the carbon footprint, self-sufficiency, and security of supply. In this way, we are supporting a fact-based dialogue in politics, business, and society."

"Mensch in Bewegung" is a joint project of Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt and the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. Together with partners from business, politics, and civil society, the universities are building a regional network for the exchange of knowledge on the topics of innovative mobility, digital transformation, sustainable development, and civic engagement. The project is being funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the state of Bavaria with around 15 million euros over five years as part of the "Innovative University" funding initiative.
